May 28, 2017 – “Children’s Stories: Zaccheus

An audio file of this morning’s sermon for listening and downloading is available at this link.

A downloadable PDF file of the worship bulletin is available at this link.

The Scripture readings were Deuteronomy 7:7-9   and Luke 19:1-9.

Here is an excerpt from the sermon:
“You know from experience that when your life is disordered, when something that separates you from God is eating you, catching a glimpse Jesus on his way by isn’t going to help. People do try it: life gets painful because of the things you’ve allowed yourself to become involved in, and perhaps you think, “Maybe I should try going back to church; I haven’t been in a while. Maybe a little religion would help.” And maybe it does, at least for a little while. But just being interested in Jesus, wanting to see him, looking at him from up in a tree, as it were, isn’t going to solve anything. It can be a first step, but it’s going to take some actual interaction with Jesus for you to be made well.”
