Audio of the sermon from July 24, 2016 is here.
“Maybe it would be easier if Jesus stayed with us, the way he did with the first twelve? No doubt it would, but there are practical problems with that. There are about two-and-a-half billion Christians alive in the world today. That’s a lot of people to be walking around with the incarnate Christ. So that wasn’t going to work. God’s solution is to be present with us spiritually instead of physically. And so Jesus makes this promise: he will pray to the Father, who will send us another advocate to be with us and in us when Jesus can no longer be beside us. He will help us with the problem of Kingdom of God living.”
