Dr. Karl Kling
Dr. Karl Kling began serving as the Transitional/Interim Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens, Alabama on January 1st , 2023.
He has served congregations in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama during 42 years of pastoral ministry in the Presbyterian Church (USA). While living in Oklahoma City, Dr. Kling also served as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Pastoral Counselor for 10 years.
He is married to Susan Day Kling who grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. They have two sons and daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.
David and Alison Kling are Presbyterian pastors serving in Huntsville, Alabama. Michael and Samantha Kling live in St. Pete, Florida where Michael works as an electrical engineer for GE Aviation and Samantha is an elementary school teacher.
Dr. Kling earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Austin Presbyterian Seminary in the area of pastoral care and counseling. He received his M.Div. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton Business School in Philadelphia.
He is a Clinical Fellow in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and a Clinical Fellow and Psychotherapist Member of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). He is a member of St. Augustine Presbytery.
Karl and Susan love sharing in the worship, fellowship, and outreach of FPC Athens. They moved to Huntsville in 2019 to be close to their children, grandchildren, and large extended family.
